This is Lady Pink, one of the only female graffiti artists active in the ’80s. Jenny Holzer, famous for her feminist postmodern “Truisms,” designed this shirt and Lady Pink wore it around NYC.
WOAH how did i go this long without knowing the story behind one of my favourite photographs of all time?!
lady pink also starred in the 1983 hiphop/graffiti film, WildStyle, which folks should definitely check out if they haven’t caught it yet.
